Thomas J. Henry

Beyond the Courtroom

A Billion-Dollar Attorney Builds a Legacy of Giving

By Clara Morgan

For decades, Thomas J. Henry has been known as a powerhouse in the courtroom—one of the most successful personal-injury attorneys in America and a symbol of tenacity, precision, and client-centered advocacy.

But in 2025, Henry’s focus extends far beyond legal victories. With the creation of the Thomas J. Henry Center for Philanthropy, he is reshaping what it means to give back, using his success to seed hope in the same city where his story began.

A Landmark for Giving Back
Slated to open this fall at 1102 Ocean Drive in Corpus Christi, the new philanthropy center represents a milestone in Henry’s lifelong commitment to community impact. It will serve as a state-of-the-art hub for his charitable initiatives, overseeing the distribution of millions of dollars annually to causes that range from local youth education and hunger relief to global humanitarian support.

“Corpus Christi is not just where we do business—it’s home,” Henry said. “This center is a natural extension of our belief that success should always be shared.”

From Celebration to Service
The initiative reflects the evolution of a man whose generosity has become as well-known as his courtroom prowess. Over the years, Texas attorney and philanthropist Thomas J. Henry has steadily transformed his success into a far-reaching platform for good—turning moments of personal celebration into opportunities for service and impact. He recently received the prestigious Breakie Legacy Award, recognizing his extraordinary commitment to community service and education across the State of Texas.

At the heart of this transformation is Henry’s Feast of Texas program, a statewide effort that provides meals and holiday support for families facing food insecurity. What began as a local Corpus Christi outreach has grown into a multi-city operation that now feeds thousands across the Lone Star State every Thanksgiving and Christmas. Volunteers from Henry’s firm work side-by-side with community members to distribute hot meals, groceries, and gifts, reinforcing a sense of connection and dignity during the season of giving.

Equally ambitious is Henry’s $1 million Birthday Giveaway, launched this year to coincide with his own birthday. The initiative distributes weekly cash gifts to Texans facing hardship, culminating in two $100,000 grand prizes. More than a publicity gesture, the program is designed to spotlight stories of resilience—from single parents rebuilding their lives to small business owners recovering from economic setbacks—turning personal narratives of struggle into symbols of statewide solidarity.

Even Henry’s legendary birthday celebrations, once famous for their star-studded guest lists featuring performers like Cardi B, Pitbull, and DJ Khaled, have evolved into showcases for philanthropy. What were once spectacles of glamour are now reimagined as gatherings that unite celebrity, community, and cause—raising awareness and funds for local charities, youth mentorship, and family wellness programs.

“These efforts are about more than just giving money—they’re about creating experiences, building hope, and showing people that they matter,” Henry said. “When people see that they’re valued, it changes how they see themselves—and that’s where transformation begins.”

Honoring a Legacy of Education
Henry’s philanthropic influence was recently honored when he received the Breakie Legacy Award from the nonprofit TEXAS YES, which supports underserved students. The award recognizes lifetime dedication to education and community advancement—a fitting tribute to Henry’s belief that opportunity begins with learning.

Building the Future, One Student at a Time From school-supply drives to scholarships, Henry’s support has enabled thousands of Texas students to thrive. Through TEXAS YES and his own charitable projects, he continues to invest in the next generation of leaders—proving that philanthropy can be as strategic and impactful as any courtroom argument.

For Henry, the creation of the Philanthropy Center marks the start of a new era of organized giving. Rather than relying on ad-hoc donations, the center will coordinate long-term partnerships with nonprofits, review grant applications, and guide sustainable programs that address systemic issues.

Coming Home to Corpus Christi The location on Ocean Drive carries symbolic weight—it is a return to the city where Henry was born and where his global practice first took root. “This is personal,” he said. “It’s about honoring where I came from and ensuring the next generation has even greater opportunities.”

Beyond Texas, Henry’s philanthropic reach continues to expand. His firm has supported causes from hurricane relief to international children’s health programs, proving that the impact of one determined individual can transcend borders

A Legacy of Purpose
Thomas J. Henry’s rise to prominence is the stuff of Texas legend. From modest beginnings in Corpus Christi, he built one of the largest personal-injury law firms in the state, known for securing record-setting verdicts and settlements nationwide. Yet, despite his success, Henry remains grounded in the idea that true power lies in service.

“Whether it’s helping someone through tough times or easing a financial burden, providing assistance to someone I may never meet brings me fulfillment and a deep sense of purpose,” he said.

Redefining What It Means to Give
As he celebrates another milestone year—personally, professionally, and philanthropically—Henry’s message is clear: giving is not an afterthought; it is the foundation upon which enduring success is built.

With the forthcoming opening of the Thomas J. Henry Center for Philanthropy, Corpus Christi is not only gaining a new landmark but witnessing the next chapter in the story of one of Texas’s most dynamic sons—a man who continues to redefine what it means to give back, one community at a time.
